My sister is my favorite photography collaborator.
We’ve only spent three weeks together in 2013, but during that time we’ve collaborated on two mini-projects, with Hillary as model and me as photographer. (Sometimes we reverse roles, but while Hillary is an excellent photographer, I’m a rather goofy model.)
We maintain a mutual Pinterest board for our future-shoot inspiration—we’ve been really into Frida Kahlo and Sedmikrasky and flower crowns—so when we are finally in the same place, we’re on the same page immediately.
I’m always open to collaborations—maybe it’s because I have a theater background—and I hope to create more, moving forwards. Collaborative work is my favorite kind. Perhaps that’s a strange thing for a solo traveling photographer to say, but historically true: from my highly collaborative Wild Mind events in Boston to these projects with Hillary, collaboration has been the ultimate inspiration for me. The meeting of minds, the creative energy that builds as it bounces between people, these comets of crazy thoughts, yield the most fascinating and artistically satisfying results.
Here are samples of three projects Hillary and I have worked on, including a casual ongoing Instagram series. Making art is my happiness; making it with other people is divine.
